Paris Parrot

I’m back from a whirlwind tour of Paris, Maastricht and Brussels. It was a great experience, very intense and packed with sightseeing and shopping. I brought back a whole bunch of illustrated postcards and this is one of my favorites that I mailed to myself, illustrated by Nathalie Choux and published by Nouvelles Images. I love the idea of illustrated souvenir cards and there were a lot to choose from in Paris, mainly produced by two publishers. I’ll be presenting more in upcoming posts.

BR_ElephantInParis

I’m off to Paris this week to sightsee, to shop and to get inspired! This card is by Bruce Roberts, one of his quick drawings that I absolutely love. He illustrated, in 2001, a beautiful children’s story about elephants by Yukio Tsuchiya called Fidèles éléphants (Faithful Elephants). Bruce won the prestgious 2001 Governor General’s Awards for illustration. I’ll bet  you were celebrating in Paris, Bruce!

IF_OctopusSail

My contribution to today’s Illustration Friday challenge. The topic is «sail». This fellow starred originally in a cover for a newspaper summer arts section last year, in different colors, with different objects and a different background. I do like him and I decided to let him out to play again!
